The film "Ebullition" (Ghalayane) by Moroccan director Mounir Alouan won the Grand Prize at the 10th edition of the Benguérir Film Festival, held from 19 to 22 December.
The Best Director award was presented to Saad Al Idrissi for his film "Fresque" (Jiddariya), while the Jury Prize was awarded to the film "Cendres" by Omani director Sulaiman Al-Khalili.
The Best Actor award went to Abdel Qayyum Ashimat, while the Best Actress award was granted to Fatima Zahra Ahrar for her performance in the Moroccan film "La route inconnue" by director Abdelkebir Nichan.
The "Special Mention" jury prize was awarded ex aequo to the film "Daqat zamane" by director Mahdi Alami and to actor Haitham Al-Maawali.
Chaired by Moroccan director Hamid Zayan, the short film jury included Moroccan actor Hicham Bahloul, Moroccan actress Sanaa Mouziane, Omani screenwriter and director Haitham Suleiman, and Moroccan screenwriter Lmaghfri Nima.
In the "Documentary Films" category, the festival's Grand Prize was awarded to the film "Seau" (Stal) by Yemeni director Adel Mohamed Al Mimi, while the Best Director award was given to Tunisian director Hala Al-Barkawi for the film "Eve".
The Best Cinematography award went to the film "Amrouy" by Moroccan director Youssef Bousmo, while the "Special Mention" jury prize was awarded ex aequo to the films "Lignes d'espoir" by Moroccan director Othman Al Akkal, and "La magie des chemins" (sihr dourroub) by Egyptian director Marwa Al Souri.
The jury for the "Documentary Film" category, chaired by Moroccan director and producer Mariam Ait Belhoucine, included Moroccan director and producer Asmaa Mohamed Al-Moutaki and journalist Nadia Abram.
The closing ceremony of this artistic event was marked by a tribute to the community activist Mustafa Kadari.

The House of Poetry in Morocco and the cultural space of the Café Cinéma la Renaissance are organising a meeting in Rabat this Friday dedicated to the presentation of the "Anthology of Contemporary Moroccan Zajal", recently published by the University of Seville.
This anthology, produced by Francisco Moscoso Garcia, Mercedes Argun Huerta, Hassan Butke, and Sarah Lee Gittensburg, is the first to be published in two languages, namely Moroccan dialect and Spanish, the organisers stated in a press release.
This new publication offers several cultural, poetic, linguistic, and rhetorical approaches to address poetry written in Moroccan dialect, the press release highlights.
