The curtain has fallen on the second round of the regional beach sport fishing competition (surf casting) with the crowning of the Rif Youth Sport Fishing team of Al-Hoceima as Northern champions in a high-class competition, which took place at Safiha beach under the supervision of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sea Sport Fishing, and in cooperation with the Rif Sport Fishing Association.
With a distinguished presence of Northern sport fishing champions, accustomed to participating in the tournament since its inception, the activities of this session began with the draw.
The locations were closed to the champions, who immediately began their preparations in order to develop appropriate strategies.
The competition, which took place in a single round from 10:00 to 16:00, gave participants the opportunity to compete in skills, techniques, and developments in this sport, especially since the associations of the Northern region have an elite group of sport fishing champions with a distinguished level and vast experience in the practice, as evidenced by the results they obtained during the Throne Cup competition for the 2024 season and the international Yuki Master competition held at the municipal beach of Tangier at the end of last November.
After a competition between the champions in unfavourable weather conditions due to the strong Sharqi wind, the result of this round was the success of the Rif Youth Association in obtaining first place in the second round at the team level, while second place went to the Friends of the Sea Rod Fishing Association, third place went to the Amicus Debska Association, and fourth place went to the Tetouan Association for Rod Fishing Enthusiasts.
At the individual level, first place was obtained by the duo Fakri Alwat and Saïd Tamiri of the Rif Youth Sport Fishing Association of Al Hoceima, second place to the duo Mohamed Shakoubi and Fouad Boushaibi of the same club, third place to the duo Jawad Ida and Issa Al Hayek of the Friends of the Sea Rod Fishing and Development Association of Chefchaouen, while Rachid Badi and Al Madani Al Hanti of the Amicus Debska Association of Tangier arrived in fourth place.
After this round, the champions will meet on 17 May for the third round which will take place at Ras Rmel beach in Larache.
