The public prosecutor's office at the Agadir Court of Appeal announced on Thursday, May 30, 2025, the opening of a judicial investigation that led to the police custody of eight individuals in a case of organised fraud during the baccalaureate exams. This operation is part of the preventive and repressive actions carried out by security services to curb the growing phenomenon of school cheating, particularly using digital technologies.
According to an official statement from the King's public prosecutor, two candidates were caught in the act of cheating within an exam centre in the city, while they were attempting to communicate during the Arabic language exam. The search carried out immediately after their arrest led to the discovery in their possession of sophisticated electronic equipment intended for the transmission and reception of answers during the exam.
The investigations, conducted under the direct supervision of the competent prosecutor's office, quickly led to a group of five people operating from an apartment located in the city. These individuals were in constant contact with the arrested candidates. A search, carried out in strict compliance with legal procedures, led to the seizure of several mobile phones, a laptop used as a command post, as well as a set of money transfer receipts suspected of being linked to the fraud services.
Furthermore, another arrest took place in a café located in the immediate vicinity of an exam centre. The individual apprehended there also had electronic equipment intended to assist candidates remotely during the exams.
The eight suspects have been placed in police custody in accordance with the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, pending the results of the preliminary investigation. The prosecutor's office has given its instructions to broaden the investigations and determine all the ramifications of this fraud network, targeting both the instigators and the beneficiaries.
