Celebrations for the Amazigh New Year 2975 began on Friday at Ibn Zaydoun Park in Agadir with the launch of the "Tassoukt Id Yennayer" fair, dedicated to promoting the richness of Amazigh traditions.
This exhibition is part of the celebrations scheduled until the 14th of the current month by the Agadir commune, in partnership with the Souss-Massa Regional Council, the Souss-Massa Regional Tourism Council, and the Timitar Festival Association.
"Tassoukt Id Yennayer" includes, notably, an exhibition of local products and traditional Amazigh clothing, embodying the spirit of Amazigh creativity rooted in Moroccan culture.
The various objects and creations exhibited reflect the richness of the intangible Amazigh cultural heritage, which constitutes one of the fundamental components of Moroccan identity.
In a statement to the MAP, Zahra Manshoudi, Vice-President of the Agadir Municipal Council in charge of cultural affairs, indicated that the "Id Yennayer 2975" programme will occupy 12 spaces in the city, including public squares, gardens, and the Anza and Agadir promenades, with the aim of offering the inhabitants of the Souss capital and its visitors an exceptional opportunity to enjoy activities and events in a festive atmosphere.
The public will also have appointments with exhibitions of artisanal cooperatives and local products, highlighting the works of artisans, as well as a photographic exhibition illustrating the richness and diversity of the Amazigh cultural heritage.
On the menu for "Id Yennayer 2975" are also conferences focused notably on "Amazighity in light of the 2024 census" and "Amazigh television and dramatic production," with the participation of Amazigh experts and researchers.
Citizens and visitors to Agadir will also be able to attend major artistic evenings organised in Tikiouine, at Al Amal Square, and at the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella.
These shows will highlight renowned stars of Amazigh song, as well as performances by Raïs and Ahwach.
Furthermore, as part of the cinematographic programme, the film "Mouga Yushkad" will be screened in Anza, Talborjt, and Bensergao.
To enrich the experience, tasting points for Amazigh dishes will be set up along the Anza and Agadir promenades.
In addition, a "Tanggift" show will stage the traditions of the authentic Amazigh wedding, accompanied by artistic troupes, representing the cultural diversity of the Souss-Massa region.
