The city of Agadir hosted, on Saturday, the proceedings of the General Assembly of the Regional League for the regions: Marrakech-Safi, Souss-Massa, Guelmim-Oued Noun, Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab, and Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra for sports for people with disabilities.

During this meeting, Abderrahmane Edd-Mokaddem was elected president of the league for a second term, by the consensus of the representatives of the sports associations affiliated with the league, as a culmination of his efforts throughout his first term, which lasted for four years, despite the constraints that accompanied it due to the novelty of its establishment and its coincidence with the "Covid" pandemic.
Hamid El Aouni, President of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for People with Disabilities, said in a speech on the occasion: "Our goal is for this league to work, like the rest of the leagues, in an atmosphere of comfort, giving, and responsiveness. We are very optimistic about a bright future for sports for people with disabilities."

For his part, Abderrahmane Edd-Mokaddem, the elected president of the league, said: "This is a great responsibility. We hope to work with everyone with the aim of promoting sports for people with disabilities in this league, within a framework of agreement, cohesion, and great passion for this sport, so that we can develop it and move it forward, and be up to the responsibility and trust that the associations belonging to this vast geographical area, extending from the Marrakech region to the precious Moroccan Sahara regions dear to all our hearts, have placed in us."
During the same General Assembly, the various achievements made by the league during the past term were reviewed, most notably the organization of an awareness day on the importance of para-sports in the social integration of people with disabilities, and the signing of a partnership agreement related to supporting sports clubs for people with disabilities in the Souss region with a total amount of 900 thousand dirhams for 3 years.

Among the achievements made also in coordination with various partner institutions, is the signing of a similar partnership agreement with the Guelmim-Oued Noun region and the Regional Academy of Education and Training for the same region, through the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for People with Disabilities, for an amount of 330 thousand dirhams for the 2024/2025 sports season.
The Regional League for Sports for People with Disabilities also worked, according to its literary report, on implementing sports programs and initiatives aimed at developing the sports skills of the participants, and providing a motivating environment that supports their capabilities and highlights their potential, out of its awareness of the importance of sports work as an effective means to enhance social inclusion and personal development for people with disabilities, and this reflects the firm commitment to the principles of equality and equal opportunities within the framework of its continuous efforts to achieve these noble goals.
