Activity in decline in Agadir

Tourism activity in Agadir went through a difficult situation in the first quarter of 2015, marked by decreases of 4.22% in arrivals and 11.95% in terms of overnight stays, according to the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Agadir Souss-Massa-Drâa.

The analysis of the cumulative arrivals recorded in the city's classified hotels during the first quarter of 2015 shows a decrease of 8,108 arrivals (-4.22%), i.e., 184,227 visitors, compared to the 192,335 visitors received in 2014, explains a report from the Council.

Overnight stays also saw a decrease of 119,853 (-11.59%), i.e., 913,978 overnight stays recorded for this first quarter of 2015, against 1,033,831 during the same period last year, the statement adds, specifying that the average length of stay recorded a decrease, settling at 4.96 nights, against 5.38 during the same period last year.

Regarding the month of March alone, the destination saw a decrease of 7.67% in terms of arrivals, against -10.82% in overnight stays compared to the same month in 2014.

The most significant decreases were recorded by the national market with -4.34% in arrivals and -8.20% in overnight stays, followed by the French market (-33.93% and -27.92%) and the Belgian market (-35.14% and -27.74%).

The markets that marked an increase are Germany with +11.49% in arrivals and +1.17% in overnight stays, England (+0.48% and +0.8%), Saudi Arabia (+46.38% and +46.56%), Poland (+11.99% and +10.8%), and Russia (+80.65% and +12.83%).
