This meeting, which saw the participation of students, teachers, educational officials, and institutional partners, served as an occasion to celebrate the winners of the reading competitions for the 2023-2024 season.
According to data from the Regional Academy of Education and Training, the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region recorded high participation in the "2024 Arab Reading Challenge," with a total of 309,913 students representing 1,894 educational institutions.
The same data highlighted that 40 per cent of the participating students managed to reach the final stages at the regional and national levels, adding that students with special needs distinguished themselves particularly during these competitions, reflecting the efforts made at the regional level to ensure inclusive education and encourage reading for all.
Furthermore, 526,273 students participated in the "2024 National Reading Project," half of whom were female, representing 1,538 educational institutions, which reflects the collective commitment of the region to promote reading as a tool for educational and social development.
In a statement to the press, Kawtar El Kourchi, winner of the "Arab Reading Challenge" award in the category for students with special needs, confirmed that her participation in this competition was a real challenge for her, given the "dyslexia" issues she suffers from.
She added that this achievement is a message to young people that "nothing is impossible," and that "reading nourishes our dreams and builds our future."
For his part, Arabic language teacher Said El Fellak emphasised the importance of these initiatives, highlighting that beyond their competitive nature, these competitions embody the national commitment to encourage reading.
For his part, the head of the Regional Centre for Documentation, Animation, and Educational Production at the Regional Academy of Education and Training for the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, Mohamed El Khiter, indicated that the official launch of the "Arab Reading Challenge" and "National Reading Project" programs represents an opportunity to showcase the outstanding results achieved during the past year, while mobilising students and teachers to prepare for the next season, which is expected to be rich in terms of participant performance.
Mr. El Khiter added that these projects fall within the framework of the national vision for a quality, open, and innovative school.
