Polisario loses its last ally in the Middle East - Al Ousboue Assahafi

The regime founded by Hafez al-Assad in 1971 has fallen, along with his son Bashar, who had ruled the country since July 14, 2000, and who left Syria last Saturday for Russia, thus bringing the Assad family's rule in Syria to an end.
President Assad's flight represents a heavy blow to the Polisario, which has lost the last state in the Middle East to officially recognize what they call the “Sahrawi Republic.” This recognition was granted by Bashar's father, Hafez al-Assad, after joining an Arab front launched by Muammar Gaddafi in December 1977 in Tripoli, a front that included Libya, Algeria, Syria, and South Yemen. The official recognition was confirmed at the Algiers summit in February 1978, and since then, the Polisario has had diplomatic representation in Damascus.
