Es-Semara: More than 4,200 households beneficiaries of the slum resettlement programme
This programme, which consists of handing over housing and serviced land plots to the households concerned, aims to improve the urban landscape, facilitate access to all local services, and declare Es-Semara a slum-free city, according to data provided on Thursday by the Es-Semara province.

Mobilising a total budget of 532 million dirhams (MDH), the relocation and resettlement operation also aims to improve the living conditions and environment of families, and to reduce the housing deficit in urban areas, specify these data presented during a field visit carried out by the Wali of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, Governor of the Laâyoune province, Abdeslam Bekrate, the Governor of the Es-Semara province, Brahim Boutoumilate, and elected officials.

In this context, logistical and human resources have been deployed to proceed with the demolition of some 3,724 unsanitary dwellings spread over a total area of 317,778 m².

Part of the new development model for the Southern provinces, this project is the subject of a multi-party partnership agreement between the General Directorate of Territorial Collectivities (219.45 MDH), the Ministry of National Territory Planning, Urbanism, Housing and City Policy (232.75 MDH), the Agency for the Promotion and Economic and Social Development of the Southern Provinces (66.50 MDH), and the Es-Semara Provincial Council (13.30 MDH).

Subsequently, the Wali and the delegation accompanying him followed explanations on the progress rate of the work on the second phase of the resettlement programme for the inhabitants of the "Rbieb" and "El Gouiez" slum districts in the North of the city, which has reached approximately 25%.

Subject to a multi-party agreement, this project, which consists of servicing a new subdivision for a total investment of more than 260 MDH, over an area of 24.38 Ha, involves the equipping of 1,089 land plots, for which the delegated project manager is the company Al Omrane Al Janoub.

To ensure the success of this operation, committees have been set up to ensure rigorous monitoring of the construction of these dwellings, in order to guarantee their quality as well as that of the infrastructure, and to ensure that they are delivered within the set deadlines in accordance with the agreed schedules.
