Health: Inauguration of the Cardiac Catheterization Centre in Fez

The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tehraoui, carried out a working visit to the Fez-Meknes region on Tuesday, 10 December 2024, during which he inaugurated the services of the Cardiac Catheterization Centre within the Al Ghassani Hospital in the city of Fez.

During his visit, Amine Tehraoui presided, alongside the Wali of the region, Mouaad Jamai, the Director General of the centre, and various members of the board of directors, over the deliberations of the ordinary session of the Board of Directors of the Hassan II University Hospital Centre of Fez.

The work of this session focused on several strategic axes, including the evaluation of the achievements of the Hassan II University Hospital Centre of Fez, the validation of the minutes of the board of directors meeting held on 13 July 2023, as well as the presentation of the activities and the administrative account of the centre for the year 2023. The analysis of the results from the implementation of the board's decisions for this period was also on the agenda.

The meeting was punctuated by the presentation of the budget execution results for the year 2024, the action plan for the coming year, as well as the draft budget for 2025. In addition, the various cooperation agreements concluded by the hospital centre were presented, highlighting the centre's continuous commitment to strategic partnerships.

On the same occasion, the Minister launched the services of the cardiac catheterization centre, equipped with advanced biomedical technologies, within the cardiovascular department of the Al Ghassani Regional Hospital Centre of Fez. The establishment of this essential centre is part of the rehabilitation of health infrastructure across the Kingdom, in accordance with the High Royal Instructions. These instructions focus on the reform and modernization of the national health system, as well as on improving the supply of specialized care, in support of the implementation of the project for the generalization of social protection and universal health coverage.

This centre, the first of its kind among regional hospitals, aims to consolidate the supply of specialized care in the Fez-Meknes region, and more particularly at the Al Ghassani Regional Hospital Centre. It is designed to improve the quality of services provided to patients suffering from cardiovascular pathologies requiring emergency interventions, such as cardiac catheterization, all under the aegis of an elite medical and nursing team, highly qualified and specialized, respecting the most advanced medical standards and technologies in this field.

This structure aims to provide health care to the population of the Fez region, while alleviating the burden on other local hospital services. This initiative also aims to meet the growing needs of citizens for cardiovascular services, thereby contributing to reducing morbidity and mortality rates linked to these diseases, while optimizing patient care and ensuring the quality of care provided.

This regional centre, the cost of which amounts to approximately 16.4 million dirhams, is the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Health, the Regional Council, and the "Injad" Association. Thanks to this initiative, approximately 4.5 million inhabitants of the Fez-Meknes region will be able to access health services related to cardiovascular diseases, which will contribute to reducing waiting times for specialized surgical interventions, particularly cardiac catheterizations.

It should be noted that the supervisory ministry has mobilized qualified human resources to ensure the provision of medical and nursing services meeting the needs of the population in this essential specialty.
