Fes.. The National Festival for Young Writers in its first edition celebrates the creations of the rising generation

Fes.. The National Festival for Young Writers in its first edition celebrates the creations of the rising generation

The festival programme, organised by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication - Youth Sector, and continuing until next Thursday, includes the main literary competition where literary works qualified from regional festivals are presented and evaluated by a jury, as well as training workshops, literary seminars, and other parallel activities.

The festival will culminate in the awarding of three prizes to works distinguished by their creativity and quality.

The festival targets young people aged between 16 and 30, who participate with their creations in various literary fields, particularly poetry, novels, short stories, and literary essays.

The opening of this literary event was marked by the presentation of various artistic segments, which highlighted in particular the artistic and literary creations and capabilities of the youth.

In a speech on the occasion, the Head of the Youth Programmes Division at the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication - Youth Sector, Abdelmajid Saneh, highlighted that the festival constitutes a distinguished event that concludes the national programme of youth festivals, which is a national programme that aims, through youth creativity, to achieve the social and economic integration of young people.

He added that the primary goal of the National Festival for Young Writers is not to announce the names of the winners, but to highlight and value young creations and talents.

For his part, the Regional Director of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication - Youth Sector in the Fes-Meknes region, Ismail El Hamraoui, stressed the need to empower and qualify young people, as they are the fundamental pillar of human development and the main axis of any developmental renaissance, and to support cultural and educational initiatives that give young people the opportunity to showcase their capabilities, refine their talents, and contribute effectively to building a modern Morocco, open to the world, and looking towards the future.

The regional official for the youth sector continued that the festival constitutes an additional building block in the edifice of projects and festivals aimed at youth, which aim to upgrade their capabilities in literary and cultural fields, and enable them to express themselves and their ambitions.

In turn, the Vice-President of the Fes-Meknes region, Jawad El Knaoui, confirmed in a speech on the occasion that the event is considered an important step towards promoting a culture of reading among young people, as it contributes to spreading awareness of the importance of the book as a means of learning and development.

He added that the Fes-Meknes region has engaged in a group of projects aimed primarily at rehabilitating the cultural sector in the region through contract-programme projects between the State and the region, where agreements have been concluded with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication to implement projects aimed at establishing, rehabilitating, and equipping cultural institutions, taking care of local heritage and culture, and organising exhibitions and cultural events in the various prefectures and provinces of the region.

It is worth noting that the event aims to support and strengthen the literary movement among young people, encourage them to engage in literary creation, and interact with cultural and social issues through writing.

It also seeks to organise interactive meetings to showcase the works of young writers in various fields of literature such as poetry, short stories, novels, and literary essays, promote national culture, and develop literary talents by providing an opportunity for young creators to showcase their literary works before a wide audience of those interested and specialists in the literary field, in addition to organising workshops and creative competitions, which helps them create an environment that fosters creativity and young literary talents.

The activities of the National Festival for Young Writers in its first edition kicked off yesterday, Tuesday, in Fes, with the participation of more than 33 young men and women from all over the Kingdom.
