This visit, organised on the initiative of the Council of Councillors, enabled members of the French-Moroccan Parliamentary Friendship Group to gain a close insight into the qualifications and potential of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region in attracting investments, establishing partnerships, and strengthening trade.
French Senator Max Brisson emphasised in a press statement the strong relations between the French Senate and the Moroccan Council of Councillors, expressing his admiration for the comprehensive development momentum that the region is experiencing, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
He said, "We were briefed on the various structuring projects that are underway in the region, particularly in the fields of renewable energy, tourism, fishing, and agriculture," expressing his desire to strengthen bilateral relations in these sectors.
For his part, the President of the Moroccan-French Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Council of Councillors, Mohamed Zeidouh, stated that this visit embodies the strong relations between the two countries, which have been further strengthened, especially after the state visit of President Emmanuel Macron to Morocco at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Mr. Zeidouh added that this visit to Dakhla provided an opportunity for members of the French Senate to gain a close insight into the development momentum in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region and to learn about the structuring projects that have been completed or are under construction, including the new Dakhla Atlantic Port and the seawater desalination plant.
During this visit, members of the French-Moroccan Parliamentary Friendship Group held meetings with the Wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, Governor of the Oued Eddahab Province, Ali Khalil, the Vice-President of the Regional Council, Moulay Boutal El Mebarki, and the President of the Communal Council of Dakhla, Rahal Hrmah, during which the development boom in all sectors of the region was highlighted.
The delegation members also attended a presentation by the Director of the Regional Investment Centre of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, Mounir Houari, which detailed the region's key economic figures and drivers, from fishing and agriculture to tourism and renewable energy, as well as major infrastructure projects and investment opportunities.
The delegation members also conducted field visits to several major projects in the region, including the seawater desalination plant and the construction site of the new Dakhla Atlantic Port.
