A delegation of French senators praised, on Wednesday in Dakhla, the socio-economic achievements and the development momentum experienced by the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region.

In a statement to the press, French Senator Max Brisson emphasised the close relations between the French Senate and the Moroccan Chamber of Councillors, expressing his admiration for the all-encompassing development momentum the region is experiencing, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

“We have been informed of all the structuring projects that are taking shape in the region, particularly in the fields of renewable energy, tourism, fishing, and agriculture,” he indicated, expressing his desire to strengthen bilateral relations in these sectors.

For his part, the President of the Morocco-France Parliamentary Friendship Group at the Chamber of Councillors, Mohamed Zidouh, stressed that this visit embodies the strong relations that unite the two countries, which have been further strengthened, particularly after the state visit of President Emmanuel Macron to Morocco, at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

This visit to Dakhla, Zidouh continued, provided an opportunity for the French senators to witness firsthand the development momentum that Dakhla-Oued Eddahab is experiencing and to be informed about the structuring projects completed or underway, including the new Dakhla Atlantic port and the seawater desalination plant.

During this trip, the members of the France-Morocco Interparliamentary Friendship Group held meetings respectively with the Wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, Governor of the Oued Eddahab province, Ali Khalil, the Vice-President of the Regional Council, Moulay Boutal Lembarki, and the President of the Dakhla Communal Council, Erragheb Hormatallah, during which emphasis was placed on the development surge the region is experiencing in various fields.

Similarly, the delegation members attended a presentation by the Director of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Regional Investment Centre, Mounir Houari, in which he detailed, with supporting figures, the main economic drivers of the region, ranging from fishing to agriculture, tourism, and renewable energy, as well as major infrastructure projects and investment opportunities.
