A follow-up meeting for the regional contract for the deployment of the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap projects was held last Friday in Dakhla, in the presence of several officials and stakeholders in the sector.
Chaired by the Wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, Governor of the Oued-Eddahab province, Ali Khalil, this first meeting of the committee in charge of monitoring the regional contract for the deployment of the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap projects was an opportunity to discuss the progress of the projects programmed within the framework of the said roadmap.
Being the subject of a partnership between the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, the Wilaya of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, the Regional Council, the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering (SMIT) and the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT), the regional contract for the deployment of the tourism roadmap projects has mobilised a total amount estimated at 254 million dirhams (MDH), reports MAP.
In a statement to the press, the provincial delegate for tourism in Dakhla, Mohamed Sbai, indicated that this meeting was an opportunity to present the main projects programmed at the regional level within the framework of the tourism roadmap, to highlight the measures taken for their implementation, and to make proposals likely to meet the challenges that arise in this area.
Mr. Sbai also noted that the programmed projects are likely to strengthen and diversify the tourism offer of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, and consequently contribute to the creation of jobs in the region.
For his part, the president of the Regional Tourism Council, Ahmed Abdellaoui, indicated that the regional deployment of this tourism roadmap will allow for the strengthening of investment, the improvement of employability, and the promotion of the region's tourism product.
The tourism sector is developing in Dakhla-Oued Eddahab at a steady pace, like the other regions of the Kingdom, continued Mr. Abdellaoui, calling for combined efforts to support the development of this promising sector.
On this occasion, the provincial delegate for tourism in Dakhla presented a report in which he reviewed the progress of the various planned projects, citing in this regard the creation of a regional tourism development company, support programmes for medium, small and very small tourism enterprises, and the integrated development programme for natural and rural tourism, as well as the creation of a Water Ski Academy, and the development of air routes for the region.
Notably taking part in this meeting were the Governor of the Aousserd province, Mohammed Rochdy, elected officials, and members of the committee in charge of monitoring the application contract for the regional deployment of the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap.
