This first meeting of the monitoring committee for the regional contract to implement the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap, chaired by the Wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region and Governor of the Oued Eddahab province, Ali Khalil, provided an opportunity to discuss the progress made on the projects programmed within the framework of the aforementioned roadmap.
The regional contract for the implementation of the tourism roadmap, which has been allocated a budget estimated at 254 million dirhams, is the subject of a partnership between the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, the Wilaya of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, the Regional Council, the Moroccan Society for Tourism Engineering (SMIT), and the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT).
The regional delegate for tourism in Dakhla, Mohamed Sebaai, indicated in a statement to the press that this meeting was an opportunity to present the most important projects programmed at the regional level within the framework of the tourism roadmap, and to emphasise the steps taken to implement them on the ground, as well as proposals aimed at meeting the challenges posed in this regard.
Mr. Sebaai also added that the programmed projects will enhance and diversify the tourism offer of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, and thus contribute to creating job opportunities in the region.
For his part, the President of the Regional Tourism Council, Ahmed Abdellaoui, indicated that the implementation of these tourism roadmap projects will enable the strengthening of investment, the improvement of employment opportunities, and the promotion of the region's tourism product.
Mr. Abdellaoui continued that the tourism sector in Dakhla-Oued Eddahab is developing at a sustainable pace, like the rest of the Kingdom's regions, calling for concerted efforts to support the development of this promising sector.
On this occasion, the regional delegate for tourism in Dakhla gave a presentation in which he reviewed the status of progress made in the various programmed projects, noting in this regard the creation of the Regional Tourism Development Company, the support programme for medium, small, and micro-tourism enterprises, the integrated development programme for nature and rural tourism in the region, as well as the creation of a water sports academy in the city of Dakhla, in addition to the air promotion plan for the region.
This meeting was also attended, in particular, by the Governor of the Aousserd province, Mohamed Rachdi, elected officials, and members of the committee responsible for monitoring the regional contract for the implementation of the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap.
Representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, the Moroccan Society for Tourism Engineering, and the Moroccan National Tourism Office also participated in this meeting via video conference.
