Presentation of the investment strategy in Beni Mellal

Karim Zidane, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Investment, Convergence, and Evaluation of Public Policies, visited the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region today as part of the implementation of the private investment strategy in the region.

A press release received by Hespress stated that during this visit, the objectives of the private investment strategy for the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region were presented.

The Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Investment, Convergence, and Evaluation of Public Policies confirmed that this step comes in the context of implementing the high directives of King Mohammed VI to enhance the attractiveness of the aforementioned region and stimulate private investment as a key driver of economic development.

For his part, the Wali of the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region stressed that this region has become a promising hub for attracting investments, as all necessary conditions have been provided to welcome investors in the best circumstances, with the aim of giving the region the place it deserves among the economic hubs of the Kingdom, calling on all stakeholders to "intensify their efforts to make the region a suitable location for hosting and developing investment projects."

The same statement reported that the expanded meeting, which brought together all actors in the investment ecosystem at the regional level, saw an extensive discussion on the status and developments of investment in the region and prospects for its development by enhancing the region's investment offer.

For his part, the Director General of the Regional Investment Centre explained that "the results of the Unified Regional Investment Committee have seen a tangible increase, as it approved public and private investments estimated at about 86 billion dirhams during the 2022-2024 period; which confirms a very positive investment dynamic at the regional level."

The same source mentioned that to enhance and continue this dynamic, within the framework of the national strategy to promote private investment, the objectives set at the level of the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region during the 2022-2026 period are to mobilise 21 billion dirhams of private investment and create 23,000 jobs thanks to the main sectors at the regional level: agriculture, agri-food industry, metal industry, trade, and also promising sectors such as tourism, energy, information technology, and communications.

The meeting was an opportunity to emphasise the important role played by Moroccan investors, including Moroccans living abroad, who have a major role in the development of this region in particular.

The same source highlighted that the supervising ministry is mobilised with all its components to accompany and support Moroccan investors, especially since national private investment represents two-thirds of total private investment, as well as to guide foreign investors to the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region and introduce them to its qualifications.

The visit was marked by the presentation of the results of the regional consultations on investment that were organised throughout 2024, which included public institutions, the private sector, and civil society, and enabled the collection of recommendations focusing on improving the business climate, enhancing the region's competitiveness, and developing key and emerging sectors with added value.

The statement indicated that the recommendations included in the "White Paper on Investment" will be published to form a strategic document reflecting the commitment of regional actors to the development of the region.

It is noteworthy that Minister Zidane visited the headquarters of the Regional Investment Centre for the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region and held a meeting with all the centre's staff in the presence of the Wali to present the new vision developed by the government to enhance the role of regional investment centres, and also to introduce the strategic directions for promoting private investment and enabling investors to benefit from the incentives provided by the new Investment Charter.

The visit concluded with a presentation of the designs for the project to build the new headquarters of the Regional Investment Centre of Beni Mellal-Khénifra, which aims to improve the working environment and the reception of investors, in line with the efforts made to enhance investment in the region.

The same minister also held a meeting with investors at the Beni Mellal-Khénifra regional level to discuss the role of the Regional Investment Centre in supporting their projects and the prospects for promoting investment at the regional level by improving the business climate and removing the obstacles facing investors.
