In the presence of the Wali of the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, Mohamed Benribag, the President of the Regional Council Adil Barakat, the Director General of the CRI Beni Mellal-Khénifra (acting) Adil Azmi, elected officials, and a large number of investors and socio-economic operators, the Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, Karim Zidane, chaired a meeting where the private investment strategy was presented on Friday, 17 January 2025, in Beni Mellal, with the aim of territorialising it at the regional level.
During his speech on this occasion, Mr. Zidane stressed that this meeting with investors in the region aims to promote investments in Beni Mellal-Khénifra, which is full of agricultural, economic, and tourist potential, stressing that all investors in the region are ready to collaborate with the relevant ministry in order to participate in the realisation of investments and the strengthening of attractiveness in the fields of tourism, mining, agriculture, renewable energies, and information and communication technologies in general. He added that at the national level, this private investment strategy aims to generate 550 billion dirhams of private investment by 2026 with the creation of 500,000 jobs. The minister also highlighted the objectives of the territorialisation of the private investment strategy, which relies on the mobilisation of a budget of 21 billion dirhams and the creation of 23,000 jobs by 2026 at the level of the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, while highlighting the tireless efforts made in terms of investment at the regional level, to cite only the unified regional investment commission which approved an amount of 86 billion dirhams of private and public investment between 2022 and 2024.
According to Mr. Zidane, the meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the crucial role played by Moroccan investors, including those of the diaspora, who contribute significantly to the development of this region in particular, affirming that the ministry is fully mobilised, with all its components, to lend a hand to Moroccan investors, especially since national private investment represents two-thirds of total private investment. The objective is to make foreign investors discover the various potentials that the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region abounds with in order to strengthen the attractiveness of investments and participate in the socio-economic development of the region.
For his part, the Wali of the region declared: "We are all required to mobilise to improve the investment climate and facilitate their realisation for investors. At the level of human capital rehabilitation, Sultan Moulay Slimane University plays a primary role thanks to its teachings and training provided by a large number of major business and engineering schools in addition to the Faculty of Medicine, as well as the City of Trades and Skills (CMC) which provides training that goes hand in hand with the needs of investors in the most promising sectors at the regional level. And with a view to strengthening logistical competitiveness, a partnership agreement was signed with the Moroccan Agency for Logistics Development to create a logistics platform... Thus, we are all called upon to work in consultation with investors and the socio-economic operators concerned to strengthen the attractiveness of the various investments in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, to concretise them, and to guarantee their sustainability...".
For his part, the President of the Regional Council Adil Barakat stressed that this meeting is an opportunity to discuss everything related to the investment ecosystem and to exchange ideas on current and future challenges regarding the field of investment, adding that the regional council spares no effort to encourage investments and improve the business climate. And as for the major projects carried out thanks to the combined efforts of the regional council, the president highlighted the industrial acceleration zone in Khouribga, the agropole in Beni Mellal, the future industrial zone of Bradia under the province of Fkih Ben Salah, the Beni Mellal-Fes and Beni Mellal-Marrakech motorway project, the inauguration of the City of Trades and Skills... in addition to the signing of a large number of partnership agreements between the regional council and other socio-economic operators...
Speaking on this occasion, the acting Director General of the Regional Investment Centre (CRI) Adil Azmi presented a report that focused on the current state of investments in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, with supporting statistical data, the results of the regional dialogue on investment, and the economic potential that the region holds... Subsequently, the regional fund "Invest in Morocco" was launched and the white paper on investment at the regional level was presented.
The minister visited the headquarters of the Regional Investment Centre (CRI) of the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region and held a meeting with all the centre's executives in the presence of the Wali. This meeting aimed to present the new vision adopted by the government to strengthen the role of the Regional Investment Centres, as well as to make known the strategic orientations aimed at promoting private investment and allowing investors to benefit from the incentives provided by the new Investment Charter.
The visit concluded with the presentation of the plans for the construction project of the new headquarters of the CRI of Beni Mellal-Khénifra, the objective of which is to improve the working environment and the reception of investors, in coherence with the efforts made to strengthen investment in the region.
Furthermore, the minister held a meeting with investors from the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region to discuss the role of the CRI in supporting their projects and the prospects for promoting regional investment through the improvement of the business climate and the removal of obstacles encountered by investors.
