In a speech on the occasion, the Governor of Taroudant Province, Mabrouk Tabet, confirmed that this meeting comes in implementation of the High Royal Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI regarding taking the necessary measures to mitigate the effects of the harsh cold wave for the 2024-2025 winter season.
The Governor of the province stressed the need to activate the role of the Provincial Vigilance Committee, and continuous coordination and mobilization between various actors to support the most vulnerable groups in facing the repercussions of the harsh cold in the province, which is characterized by its mountainous terrain that makes it vulnerable to extreme climate fluctuations.
The territorial official reviewed the plan developed by the Provincial Vigilance Committee to limit the negative effects of the harsh cold wave, with the aim of protecting the population in the affected areas in Taroudant province, especially those located in mountainous areas exposed to snowfall and severe cold.
In a statement to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP), the Provincial Delegate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Adnan Mechouat, said that this meeting comes within the framework of implementing the High Royal Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aimed at urging all officials and actors to face the cold wave that a number of regions in the Kingdom are experiencing, noting that for Taroudant province, there are five territorial communes concerned by this wave, with a population exceeding 35,000 people.
He added that the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has programmed a set of activities aimed at mitigating the effects of the cold wave in these areas, as the delegation has programmed 145 outings to these areas, during which a range of diverse health services will be provided, including medical consultations, vaccination campaigns, and the distribution of medicines for the benefit of patients with diabetes and high blood pressure. A medical team and mobile units have also been mobilized, targeting primarily vulnerable groups, especially pregnant women, children, and the elderly.
For his part, the Provincial Director of Equipment and Water, Bilal Chaklal, confirmed in a similar statement that all logistical and human resources have been mobilized by the Provincial Directorate of Equipment in coordination with the provincial authority to face the effects of bad weather and snowfall during the winter season.
He explained that the Provincial Directorate of Equipment and Water has carried out a set of preparations within the framework of a central methodology established by the General Directorate of Roads, which is reflected in the maintenance of machinery and road signage for sections belonging to the classified road network, and the identification of machinery intervention centers.
It is noteworthy that in implementation of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the services of the Ministry of the Interior, along with all concerned ministries and departments and various stakeholders, have mobilized to take emergency measures through the comprehensive mobilization of all logistical means as well as human resources, to provide support and assistance to citizens to face the cold wave that a number of regions of the Kingdom are experiencing.
