Great dissatisfaction prevails among the residents of the Taroudant and Tiznit provinces, due to the large increases in electricity and water consumption bills after the regional multi-service company took over the supervision of the sector, which created tension and anger among the citizens.
According to local sources, many residents of the Taroudant province reject the method of drafting bills through "estimates" without checking the meters, as the increases reached between 25 and 40 percent. Those who used to receive a bill of 400 dirhams found themselves required to pay 700 dirhams, and some bills exceeded double, with the amount reaching 800 dirhams and 1000 dirhams, which created a state of tension.
