Hespress learned from informed sources that the Pasha of Sidi Hajjaj in the Mediouna province, outskirts of Casablanca, and the Environmental Gendarmerie, affiliated with the Royal Gendarmerie's Judicial Research Centre in 2 March, in coordination with customs control services, managed to seize two tons and 600 thousand kilograms of plastic bags and the raw material "polyethylene" in a secret factory hidden in a livestock farm in Douar Ouled Bouaziz, affiliated with the Ouled Hada administrative annex, explaining that a seizure report was drawn up in the presence of officials from the Mediouna province prefecture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in preparation for referring the file to the King's Prosecutor at the Ain Sebaa Court of First Instance.
The same sources stated that the secret factory is owned by a Moroccan immigrant abroad, and operated under a lease contract for the benefit of other people, confirming that the large quantities of "polyethylene" seized during the new raid surprised the authorities and customs and indirect tax administration inspectors, given that this material is subject to prior import authorization.
The newspaper's sources stressed that observations were directed to officials of the Ministry of Industry and Trade regarding auditing import authorizations granted to companies operating in non-industrial areas, stating that control services are preparing to extend their monitoring operations to include other secret factories for plastic bags in the Douars of Al-Harith, Al-Rawajaa, and Al-Hanancha, as well as Al-Massira 1 and 2, adjacent to the new raid point.
The same sources confirmed that the data received by local authorities regarding the activity of manufacturing prohibited plastic bags in the Mediouna province revealed the digging of warehouses for the purpose of installing "Mica" manufacturing machines, which reach a height of five meters, explaining that a number of operators of these warehouses are involved in electricity theft, and circumventing agricultural support granted for refrigerators for storing agricultural materials, and added that the information included storing huge quantities of "polyethylene" by a person who previously worked as a gendarme, in private spaces at the province level, and relies on it to feed the manufacturing points periodically.
Local authorities recently launched wide raid operations on agricultural farms on the outskirts of Casablanca, specifically in the areas of Zaouia in Nouaceur, Mediouna, and Tit Mellil, which revealed the involvement of elected officials in using these farms to hide factories for producing plastic bags prohibited under Law No. 77.15, related to the prohibition of the production, marketing, and use of plastic bags. Hespress sources stated that tips received from authority agents and reports prepared by officials in the territorial administration enabled the seizure of large quantities of prohibited products and the machines used in their manufacture.
The same sources revealed demolition and closure operations of a number of random warehouses on the outskirts of the economic capital following the new raids on agricultural farms housing "Mica" factories, with instructions from Mohamed Mhidia, Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, and coordination between the Ministry of Interior services, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the General Administration of Customs; as the tips received from authority agents contributed to uncovering a significant number of warehouses used as secret industrial units for producing plastic bags, employing a significant number of workers in illegal conditions.
