His Majesty King Mohammed VI arrived on Thursday in the early evening in Laâyoune. Upon disembarking from the plane at Laâyoune-Hassan I airport, H.M. the King reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard that paid honours, before being greeted by the President of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (Corcas), Khalihenna Ould Errachid, the Wali of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, Governor of the Laâyoune province, Bouchaab Yahdih, the President of the Laâyoune-Sakia Al Hamra Regional Council, Hamdi Ould Errachid, and the Secretary General of Corcas, Maâ Al Aïnine Maâ Al Aïnine. H.M. the King was also greeted by the governors of the provinces of Tarfaya, Boujdour, and Smara, the governor in charge of coordination with MINURSO, the presidents of the communal and provincial councils of Laâyoune, the director of the Agency for the Development of the Southern Provinces, and representatives of the civil and military authorities of the Laâyoune Wilaya. The Sovereign was then greeted by the presidents of the provincial councils of Boujdour and Smara, the presidents of the municipal councils of Marsa, Boujdour, and Tarfaya, the presidents of the Chambers of Handicrafts, Commerce and Industry, Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries, the deputies and parliamentary advisors, as well as by the notables of the region.
On this happy occasion, the inhabitants of the city flocked in large numbers to welcome the Sovereign, in an enthusiastic momentum. All along the route taken by the royal procession, the populations gave a most warm welcome to H.M. the King on the occasion of this blessed visit which honours the region as a whole and constitutes a mark of high solicitude from the Sovereign towards his faithful people.
The Sovereign made a point of greeting the citizens who came in large numbers, on this memorable day, to reiterate their marks of loyalty and allegiance to His Majesty and their attachment to the glorious Alaouite Throne.
In a festive atmosphere, the inhabitants of Laâyoune chanted in unison cheers for H.M. the King, Amir Al Mouminine, expressing their deep gratitude to the Sovereign for this blessed visit which represents a new stage on the path of the region's development, in line with the major socio-economic development projects launched throughout the Kingdom.
