This operation, carried out in close coordination with the services of the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), resulted in the arrest of two individuals suspected of links with a criminal network operating in international drug and psychotropic trafficking, indicates the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a statement.
The first suspect was apprehended in the act of attempting international drug trafficking on board a truck registered abroad, the same source specifies, noting that the searches carried out led to the seizure of 140 bales of Chira, totaling 5.758 tonnes.
The investigations also led to the identification of a woman for her alleged involvement in this same case. She was then arrested during a separate operation in Kenitra.
The two suspects were placed in police custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, in order to trace the possible ramifications of this case and to identify potential accomplices involved in this criminal activity.
This security operation is part of the continuous efforts of the DGSN and DGST services in the fight against international drug and psychotropic trafficking, the statement concludes.
