These awareness campaigns, organised by the Provincial Delegation of Health and Social Protection, in partnership with the Provincial Directorate of National Education, Preschool and Sports, and other partners, fall within the framework of the national campaign to review and catch up on vaccinations for children under 18 years of age.
These awareness-raising campaigns, organised under the slogan "Your health is our responsibility", targeted today, Thursday, the pupils of Al-Zayani School and the Moussa Ibn Noussair school group in the Ain Beni Mathar commune, who benefited from awareness and educational sessions that focused, primarily, on the importance of catching up on vaccinations and ensuring that all vaccines have been received, including the vaccination against measles.
During this campaign, which was supervised by staff from the Delegation, a presentation was given on the definition of measles, its symptoms, as well as methods of prevention against this viral disease, which is among the infectious diseases.
Chourouk Maghli, the official in charge of information and communication at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection Delegation in Jerada, confirmed in a statement to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP) agency that these awareness campaigns, organised in various educational institutions in the province, target people under 18 years of age and focus, in particular, on vaccination against measles.
She indicated that parents and guardians are invited, through these awareness campaigns, to review their children's health records at health centres and medical clinics to ensure they have received the necessary doses for the prevention of communicable diseases, including measles.
She said that the Delegation seeks, through these campaigns, to catch up on the vaccination of all children under 18 years of age in the Jerada province, calling, in this regard, on all parents and guardians to engage in this campaign, which continues until the end of the current month.
For his part, Ahmed Fathi, the official for the school health programme at the Provincial Delegation in Jerada, confirmed that this campaign aims to raise awareness among pupils, teachers, and parents about the importance of vaccination as the best means of prevention and protection against serious diseases, and the necessity of taking the necessary preventive measures to achieve herd immunity.
In this regard, he stressed the need for everyone's involvement; from civil society, parents, the Ministry of Health, and officials in the territorial communes, in such initiatives aimed at raising awareness about the importance of vaccination, which would protect individuals and society from diseases.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection launched, since 28 October 2024, a national campaign to review and catch up on vaccinations for children under 18 years of age, in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, in addition to other local partners.
This campaign, which includes both schooled and non-schooled children, and which primarily concerns catching up on vaccinations against a group of infectious diseases such as polio, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), measles, and tetanus, aims to verify that children under 18 years of age have received all vaccine doses included in the national vaccination schedule.
