Within the framework of the "Riaya 2024-2025" operation, nearly 300 people benefited from the services of a multidisciplinary medical caravan, organized this weekend in the commune of Oulad Sidi Abdelhakem (Jerada province).
Organized by the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Jerada, in coordination with local and provincial authorities, this humanitarian initiative aims to strengthen health services for the benefit of populations in areas suffering from the effects of the cold wave.
It also aims to bridge the deficit recorded in the province's healthcare provision by bringing health services closer to the local population, particularly the most vulnerable categories (children, women, and the elderly), especially in the face of the significant drop in temperatures in the region and illnesses related to the cold wave.
For the provincial delegate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Mohamed Ajbilou, this caravan is part of the practical measures aimed at mitigating the impacts of the cold wave that the province is experiencing, with temperatures dropping below zero, as well as part of improving and bringing specialized health services closer to the population.
In press statements, he explained that this initiative, supervised by 25 health professionals, including 6 specialist doctors, allowed for some 633 consultations in various specialties, including general medicine, gynecology-obstetrics, pediatrics, pediatric surgery, otorhinolaryngology (ENT), ophthalmology, urology, as well as screening and monitoring of chronic diseases, in addition to the free distribution of medicines to nearly 300 beneficiaries.
For his part, Kamal El Haissoufi, a pediatric surgeon, indicated that the caravan's medical team diagnosed various medical cases according to the specific needs of each patient, for example by referring cases requiring surgery to the provincial hospital of Jerada, adding that patients requiring medical follow-up were directed to the same hospital or to the nearest health center.
