Towards the creation of four communal health offices in the Essaouira province

This meeting, chaired by the provincial governor Adil El Maliki, in the presence of, in particular, the President of the Provincial Council Kebir El Maachi, and the heads of the concerned external services, as well as representatives of the local authorities, was an opportunity to evaluate the progress of the preliminary studies and works related to this ambitious project, which falls within the framework of the support program for the creation of groups of territorial communes for the construction, equipment, and management of communal health offices, on the initiative of the General Directorate of Territorial Collectivities under the Ministry of the Interior.


In a speech on the occasion, Mr. El Maliki said that this project aims to modernize and strengthen the infrastructure for local public health, both in urban and rural areas, highlighting that these new health offices will contribute to improving the management of public health services at the provincial level, especially regarding general hygiene, fighting disease vectors and epidemics, monitoring the health safety of food products, and ensuring compliance with health conditions.


He added that the creation of this health infrastructure is the result of close cooperation between the Ministry of the Interior, the Provincial Council of Essaouira, and the concerned territorial communes in coordination with the local authorities, highlighting that tangible progress has been made, especially regarding the provision of the necessary land, the preparation of architectural and technical studies, and the launch of calls for tenders for the construction and equipment of these communal health offices.


The provincial governor explained that construction work is expected to begin according to the set schedule before the end of the current month, provided that the offices will enter into actual service within eight months, calling on the concerned parties to closely monitor the progress of the work to ensure compliance with the set deadlines and provide infrastructure that meets the standards in force.


For his part, the head of the Territorial Collectivities Division at the Essaouira Province, Zakaria Cherkaoui, presented a comprehensive presentation on the various components of the project, noting that the health offices that will be created in the communes of Essaouira, Hanchane, Talmest, and Tamanar will cover all areas of the province.


For their part, the heads of the groups of territorial communes recently elected to manage these health offices expressed their commitment to the success of this promising project, which represents "a major advance for public health and the well-being of the province's population".


In turn, other speakers, including partners from the private sector, expressed their desire to contribute effectively to accompanying this initiative in order to ensure that these health offices carry out their tasks to the fullest in the service of the population.


On the other hand, the meeting allowed for looking ahead to the next phase of the project, which will mainly concern the supervision of construction work, the training of staff responsible for operating these offices, as well as the preparation of plans to ensure their smooth operation in the long term.
