The objective of this meeting, which falls within the framework of the participatory approach launched by the Secretariat of State in charge of Foreign Trade, was to broaden the dialogue with local economic actors in order to formulate concrete proposals capable of enriching the action plan in the field of foreign trade.
The Secretary of State to the Minister of Industry and Trade in charge of Foreign Trade, Omar Hejira, highlighted in a speech on the occasion that the 2025-2026 Foreign Trade Roadmap aims to stimulate exports, promote regional specificities and strengthen competitiveness, in addition to accessing new markets.
He mentioned that the Ministry has identified more than 60 investment projects in Africa, aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of Moroccan exporting companies in this market.
Regarding the Drâa-Tafilalet region, Mr. Hejira highlighted the potential of the region, particularly in the renewable energy, tourism and agriculture sectors, noting that the Drâa-Tafilalet region ranks first nationally in the production of dates, apples and aromatic roses.
He stressed that promoting exports at the level of the Drâa-Tafilalet region requires strengthening the region's infrastructure and improving its connection to port platforms.
On the other hand, Mr. Hejira pointed to several projects programmed or under construction at the regional level, most notably the economic activity zone in Tingdad, the economic activity zone in Tarmigt (Ouarzazate) and the logistics activity zone project in Zaida (Midelt province).
This consultation meeting was organised in the presence of the Wali of the Drâa-Tafilalet region and Governor of the Errachidia province, Essaid Zniber, the governors of the provinces of Tinghir, Ouarzazate and Midelt, the President of the Drâa-Tafilalet Regional Council, Hro Abrou, elected officials, representatives of professional bodies, as well as many economic actors.
It should be noted that the regional consultation meetings to prepare the Foreign Trade Roadmap for the 2025-2026 period aim to highlight the potential of each region in the Kingdom, with the goal of developing a roadmap that ensures sustainable and balanced development of the foreign trade sector.
