El Jadida Province.. The National Initiative for Human Development Continues to Support Women's Agricultural Cooperatives

El Jadida – The National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) in the province of El Jadida continues to support and accompany women's agricultural cooperatives, primarily aiming to empower rural women and enhance their contribution to the socio-economic development of the province.

In this regard, the INDH has contributed to financing several women's cooperatives in various rural communes of the province, with the goal of ensuring a source of income for rural women, improving their socio-economic prospects, and valorising local products.

Among these cooperatives that have benefited from the INDH's support are the "Covapat" cooperative for the production and valorisation of agricultural products in Sidi Bouzid, and the "Fayd Al Sadaka" cooperative for milk valorisation using alternative energy in Khmiss Metouh, Ouled Frej.

On the sidelines of the visit by the Provincial Human Development Committee of El Jadida to these two cooperatives, Khalil Ahl Ben Taleb, an official in the province's Social Action Department, explained that this visit is part of the follow-up and monitoring of projects that have benefited from the INDH's support, in order to evaluate the results achieved and guide the beneficiaries and help them overcome the challenges they face.

He indicated in a statement to the Moroccan News Agency (MAP) that the total cost of the "Covapat" cooperative project for the production and valorisation of agricultural products amounted to 510,000 dirhams, with the INDH contributing a total of 300,000 dirhams. He highlighted that the project, which concerns organic products, has contributed to creating jobs for a number of women in the Sidi Bouzid region.

He added that the project for milk valorisation using alternative energy also benefited from the INDH's support with an estimated amount of 300,000 dirhams, while the project owner's contribution was 200,000 dirhams.

For her part, the president of the "Covapat" cooperative, Lamia El Aouni, confirmed that this cooperative works in the field of valorising local products, specifically aromatic plants and seeds from which oils are extracted for cosmetic or food use, including sesame, almonds, black cumin, and local wild gourd seeds.

She added that the project, which benefited from the initiative's support, employs three women permanently and about 15 women involved in collecting agricultural products. She also stated that this cooperative contributes to improving the status of rural women and promoting local produce through its participation in numerous national and international exhibitions.

For her part, the president of the "Fayd Al Sadaka" women's cooperative, Siham Rahmoune, highlighted that the cooperative benefited from the initiative's support through the installation of solar panels, which helped reduce costs, particularly concerning gas usage. She noted that the INDH continues to support the cooperative through post-project establishment follow-up and monitoring to ensure its success and sustainability.
