El Jadida – The National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) in the province of El Jadida has made rural women a core priority by supporting the implementation and programming of agricultural projects for their economic and social empowerment, aiming to enhance their contribution to the development dynamics of the province.
The INDH in the province has paid increasing attention to women within economic inclusion or social and solidarity economy projects, particularly under the third programme of the initiative, which focuses on improving income and economic inclusion for youth.
The initiative also ensures the follow-up of projects it has financed, fully or partially, by organising field visits for monitoring, support, and guidance to rural women. These efforts aim to increase their income and improve their social status through the valorisation of local products.
In this context, the Provincial Human Development Committee organised a field visit on Thursday to two women's cooperatives as part of the celebration of International Women's Day. These included the "Covapat" cooperative for the production and valorisation of agricultural products in the Sidi Bouzid centre, and the "Fayd Al Sadaka" cooperative for milk valorisation using alternative energy in Khmiss Metouh, Ouled Frej.
On this occasion, Khalil Ahl Ben Taleb, an official in the Social Action Department of the El Jadida Provincial Prefecture, explained in a statement to the Moroccan News Agency (MAP) that the visit to the "Covapat" cooperative, which benefited from the initiative's support under its third programme, is part of the support, follow-up, and guidance measures.
He added that this project for the valorisation of agricultural and organic products cost 510,000 dirhams, with the INDH contributing 300,000 dirhams. He highlighted that it created job opportunities for many women in the Sidi Bouzid region.
In a similar statement, the president of the "Covapat" cooperative, Lamia El Aouni, confirmed that this project, which benefited from the initiative's support, focuses on valorising local products such as aromatic plants and the seeds from which oils are extracted for cosmetic or culinary use, including sesame, almonds, black cumin, and local wild gourd seeds.
She added that the cooperative, which employs three women permanently and about 15 women involved in collecting agricultural products, aims to promote local produce and empower rural women by supporting their participation in national and international exhibitions.
Regarding the "Fayd Al Sadaka" cooperative for milk valorisation using alternative energy, Ahl Ben Taleb stated that this project also benefited from the initiative's support with an amount of 300,000 dirhams under its third programme, while the project owner contributed 200,000 dirhams.
For her part, the president of this cooperative, Siham Rahmoune, highlighted that her project benefited from the initiative's support through the installation of solar panels, which helped reduce costs. She noted that this alternative energy is environmentally friendly and is used for electricity and pumping water from the cooperative's well.
These projects, supported by the INDH in the province of El Jadida, form a fundamental pillar in assisting rural women, improving their social conditions, and promoting their economic status within a framework of solidarity, recognising the crucial role of women, especially rural women, in the development process at the provincial level.
