These projects, overseen by the Governor of Assa-Zag Province, Youssef Khair, in the presence of the regional coordinator of the Centre for Support and Reintegration, affiliated with the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Prisoners, as well as heads of external services and elected officials, fall within the framework of the partnership agreement between the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Prisoners and the Provincial Committee for Human Development.
These projects, which have been allocated a budget of approximately 3 million dirhams, aim to assist these individuals with socio-economic integration and provide them with income-generating projects that will contribute to improving living conditions for them and their families.
These projects cover craft sectors (construction, automotive mechanics, plumbing, building electricity, welding, sewing, butchery), service sectors (bookstores, children's games, catering), restaurant services (fast food preparation), and agricultural sectors, primarily focusing on livestock farming, with sheep distributed to 13 beneficiaries.
The regional coordinator of the Centre for Support and Reintegration in Agadir, Hicham Bounichane, stated to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP) that the distribution of these income-generating projects for former prisoners aims to reintegrate this group into the economic and social fabric, adding that these 83 beneficiaries have received equipment and machinery for income-generating projects within the province's territorial jurisdiction.
For his part, Mohamed Tlemsani, from the Social Action Division of the Assa-Zag Province prefecture, confirmed that the distribution of this equipment is part of the implementation of the partnership agreement between the Provincial Committee for Human Development and the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Prisoners, adding that this operation aims to create income-generating activities, provide job opportunities for these young people, and reintegrate them into society.
In similar statements, a number of former prisoners who benefited from this operation expressed their satisfaction with this humanitarian initiative, adding that these projects will help them enter the workforce, provide them with a stable income, and facilitate their integration into the job market.
