The Minister of the Interior, Mohamed Hassad, presided over the installation ceremony of Mohamed Samir El Khamlichi in Casablanca on Friday evening, whom His Majesty King Mohammed VI has appointed as Governor of the Casablanca-Anfa prefecture.

Speaking on this occasion, the Minister congratulated the new governor on the high royal trust placed in him, praising the professional career of Mohamed Samir El Khamlichi.

He added that this appointment comes within the framework of the new dynamic experienced by the territorial administration, which aims at the renewal of elites and the realization of the kingdom's democratic choice.

Territorial authorities are called upon to ensure a climate of transparency and honesty and to observe the required neutrality with political actors while ensuring they serve the citizens.

Mohamed Hassad called for the adoption of a partnership approach between the State, territorial authorities, and the private sector for the promotion of the Anfa region, which constitutes an important economic hub with undeniable economic attractions.

The Minister also highlighted the role devolved to the authorities and officials concerned in the implementation of advanced regionalization, which constitutes a pillar for strengthening local democracy.

Elected officials, territorial authorities, as well as civil society are called upon to combine their efforts to meet the aspirations of the local population for greater prosperity, he said.

The Minister also stressed the importance of consolidating local democracy through the adoption of partnership mechanisms that place the citizen at the centre of public policies.

The installation ceremony took place in the presence of, among others, the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, Khalid Safir, the President of the region, Mustapha Bakkoury, the President of the Casablanca Urban Commune Council, Abdelaziz El-Omari, and several other personalities.
