Marrakech – The Mohamed El Ghazouani Foundation for Education and Training, located in the Sidi Youssef Ben Ali district in Marrakech, embodies the firm commitment of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) to promote school life and the personal development of school-going children and youth.
This socio-educational structure, which falls under the fourth program related to 'Promoting the human capital of rising generations' of the third phase of the Initiative, offers parallel artistic, literary, and cultural activities for 7,200 students, aged between 6 and 18, from various neighborhoods of the Sidi Youssef Ben Ali district.
Students enrolled in this institution benefit, throughout the school year, from various workshops concerning music, theater, visual arts, and the audiovisual field, in addition to activities dedicated to reading and foreign languages.
This project, which saw the light during the 2014-2015 school year, is the fruit of a partnership between the Provincial Directorate of National Education, Preschool, and Sports in Marrakech, as it oversees the animation and management of the center, the Regional Academy of Education and Training in Marrakech-Safi responsible for support, and the National Initiative for Human Development (acquisition of equipment).
In a statement to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP), the executive in charge of communication at the Social Action Division at the Wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region, Hanane Abakarim, indicated that the National Initiative for Human Development, within the framework of the Mohamed El Ghazouani Foundation for Education and Training project, supported two workshops (music and theater) with a total cost estimated at 160,150 dirhams.
She added that at the level of the Marrakech prefecture, about 175 projects falling under the fourth program of the Initiative (openness and school support axis) have benefited from the support of the National Initiative for Human Development since 2019, explaining that these projects targeted about 72,000 students from vulnerable backgrounds.
She also mentioned that the Wilaya of the region's celebration this year, within the framework of the National Initiative for Human Development, of the Week of Openness (from February 20 to 26), aims to highlight the efforts of this Royal project for the benefit of promoting the education sector in Marrakech.
For her part, the official in charge of the School, Cultural, and Artistic Activities Office at the Provincial Directorate of National Education, Preschool, and Sports in Marrakech, Asmaa Bensaltana, explained that the establishment of the Mohamed El Ghazouani Foundation for Education and Training falls within the framework of efforts aimed at promoting the quality of school life and the Moroccan public school.
She added in a similar statement that this space dedicated to openness and artistic education provides a number of artistic and cultural workshops for students from institutions mainly belonging to the Sidi Youssef Ben Ali district, and also from other districts in the Red City.
She pointed out that the animators at the foundation ensure the framing and support of 160 animators in the educational clubs of school institutions within the framework of artistic and cultural activities and competitions organized throughout the season, including the thematic networking competition, theater, the Arab Reading Challenge, the music festival, and others.
After praising the support of the National Initiative for Human Development through the acquisition of equipment for the benefit of theater and music workshops, Ms. Bensaltana mentioned that the Marrakech prefecture has two foundations for openness (Lalla Asmaa Foundation and Mohamed El Ghazouani Foundation), highlighting the actual impact of the activities of these centers on students, some of whom have excelled at the national level and won a number of awards, such as the educational caricature award, the child festival award in Casablanca, and others.
For her part, Yasmine, a student who has been enrolled in this institution for 4 years, indicated that the theater workshop allows for personal development and concentration, among other things, and is of great benefit in the school and daily life of students.
'Thanks to the theater workshop, I was able to overcome shyness and gained more self-confidence,' she said, noting that the most talented students enrolled in this institution were selected to participate in national and international festivals during which they won awards and represented Morocco and the Red City with merit.
This student did not miss the opportunity to express her thanks to the National Initiative for Human Development and the Provincial Directorate of National Education, Preschool, and Sports in Marrakech, as well as the animators and trainers at the foundation, expressing her aspiration for the establishment of similar institutions in the Red City, given the tangible socio-educational impact of parallel activities in the context of enriching school life and developing students' skills and talents, as well as improving the learning process.
