Sidi Youssef Ben Ali (Prefecture of Marrakech) – Located in Sidi Youssef Ben Ali, under the prefecture of Marrakech, the El Ghazouani Foundation for Education and Training (EEEF) embodies the constant commitment of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) in favor of promoting school life and the personal development of school-going children and youth.
As part of the 4th program 'Impulse of human capital of rising generations' of the third phase of the INDH, this socio-educational structure offers parallel artistic, literary, and cultural activities for the benefit of some 7,200 students, aged between 6 and 18, and from the various neighborhoods of the Sidi Youssef Ben Ali district.
Students enrolled in this institution benefit, throughout the school year, from varied workshops, particularly in the fields of music, theater, visual arts, and audiovisual, in addition to workshops dedicated to reading and foreign languages.
This project, which saw the light during the 2014-2015 school year, is the result of a partnership between the Provincial Directorate of National Education, Preschool, and Sports of Marrakech, which ensures the animation and management of the center, the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF) of Marrakech-Safi (support), and the INDH (acquisition of equipment).
Hanane Abakarim, executive and communication officer at the Social Action Division (DAS) under the Wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region, indicated that the Wilaya of the region is celebrating this year, within the framework of the INDH, the Week of Openness from February 20 to 26, with a view to shedding light on the efforts of this Royal project in favor of promoting the education sector in Marrakech, noting that within the framework of the Mohamed El Ghazouani EEEF project, the INDH supported two workshops (theater and music) for a total cost estimated at 160,150 DH.
'At the level of the Marrakech prefecture, some 175 projects, falling within the framework of the 4th program of the INDH (openness and school support axis), have benefited from the support of the INDH since 2019,' she added in a statement to the MAP, noting that these projects have benefited about 72,000 students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
In a similar statement, Asmaa Bensaltana, official at the office of social, cultural, and artistic activities at the Provincial Directorate of National Education, Preschool, and Sports of Marrakech, noted that the creation of the Mohamed El Ghazouani EEEF is part of the efforts aimed at promoting the quality of school life and the Moroccan public school, emphasizing that this space dedicated to openness and artistic education offers several artistic and cultural activities for the benefit of students from school institutions mainly under the Sidi Youssef Ben Ali district, but also from other districts of Marrakech.
'The animators of the EEEF also ensure the framing and support of about 160 animators of the educational clubs of school institutions, within the framework of artistic and cultural activities and competitions organized throughout the season, including the thematic networking competition, theater, the Arab Reading Challenge, and the music festival,' she insisted.
While welcoming the support of the INDH, through the acquisition of equipment for the benefit of the theater and music workshops, Ms. Bensaltana specified that the Marrakech prefecture is endowed with two EEEFs; namely the Lalla Asmaa institution and that of Mohamed El Ghazouani, highlighting the positive impact of the activities of these centers on students, some of whom have shone at the national level and won several distinctions, including the first prize for educational caricature and the child festival prize in Casablanca, among others.
Approached by the MAP, Yasmine, a student enrolled in this foundation for 4 years, indicated that the theater workshop allows for personal development and concentration.
'Thanks to the theater workshop, I was able to overcome shyness and have more self-confidence,' she affirmed, noting that the most talented students enrolled in this foundation were selected to participate in national and international festivals during which they won prizes and represented Morocco and the Red City with dignity.
This student did not fail to express her thanks to the INDH, to the Provincial Directorate of National Education, Preschool, and Sports of Marrakech, as well as to the animators and supervisors of the institution, expressing the wish that similar EEEFs see the light of day in the Red City, given the palpable socio-educational impact of parallel activities in the context of enriching school life, the development of students' skills and talents, as well as the improvement of the learning process.
