Fes .. Ms. Ben Yahia highlights the significant progress made by Morocco in the field of gender equality

Fes – The Minister of Solidarity, Social Inclusion and the Family, Naima Ben Yahia, highlighted on Friday in Fes the significant progress made by Morocco in the field of gender equality, in accordance with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

In a statement to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP) on the sidelines of the 15th edition of the "Fes Gate" awards, organised on the initiative of the "Bouabate Fes" association to celebrate its fifteenth anniversary and International Women's Day, Ms. Ben Yahia stated that "Moroccan women constitute an essential element of society, a recognition that has been reflected in significant progress regarding gender equality."

The Minister, who received the "Institutional Category Award" on this occasion, noted that this honour "does not belong to her personally, but is a tribute to the efforts of the Ministry of Solidarity for social inclusion and the economic empowerment of women."

During this edition of the "Fes Gate" awards, several Moroccan and foreign personalities were honoured for their exceptional contributions in various fields.

Among the honourees were the Director General of AXA Insurance, Meryem Chami, who was recognised for her contribution to the economic sector; Benjelloun Khadija, head of a division at the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, who was honoured with the Justice Award; and Souad Mekkaoui, co-founder of the Maroc Diplomatique group, who was awarded in the field of media.

The Environment Award went to Laure d'Astorg, Director General of the Alliance for the Protection of the Environment, while Naziha Belkeziz, Chairwoman and CEO of the Banque Centrale Populaire, received the "Outstanding Woman of the Year" award for her contributions to the financial sector.

Finally, two special jury prizes were awarded to Guila Clara Kessous, UNESCO Ambassador for Peace, and Nabil El Maaroufi, an expert in digital accessibility and computer engineer.

This event, which brought together personalities from diverse worlds (culture, institutions, economy), provided an opportunity to exchange views on the challenges and progress made in the field of women's rights in Morocco, as well as to highlight exceptional career paths.

The "Bouabate Fes" association, founded 15 years ago, continues its commitment to promoting women, fighting discrimination, and valuing national heritage through distinguished initiatives such as "Fes Gate".
