Jamai, who was speaking at the opening of the 39th Architect's Day held on Tuesday in Fez under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, invited architects to contribute to the completion of these development projects to address the challenges of territorial vulnerability, "evidenced by the weakened situation of several spaces within the city".
In this context, he highlighted that the spiritual capital of the Kingdom was founded and built around water by Moulay Idriss II, specifying that the choice of the location of the Idrissid capital was really motivated by the water richness of the environment, which has about sixty springs.
Jamai added that this historical and architectural legacy reflects the richness of the heritage of the Medina of Fez, as well as its traditions and values that date back more than 1,200 years.
The event brings together presidents of major international professional organizations, such as the African Union of Architects (AUA), the Mediterranean Union of Architects (UMAR), and the Federation of Francophone Architects of Africa (FAFA).
