This campaign, the fourth of its kind since the beginning of winter, has toured many black spots where homeless people take refuge (abandoned buildings, abandoned parks, and other places).
The approach of the National Mutual Aid is characterised by its human and emotional dimension, as its teams do not just distribute aid, but listen to the people concerned, seeking to know the circumstances that pushed them to the street. The first goal is to convince them to access the Bensouda centre, where they can benefit from medical treatments, hot meals and safe shelter.
This comprehensive care is of great importance in ensuring their physical and mental safety, especially in the context of the cold wave that characterises the winter season. However, some homeless people are hesitant to accept the idea of leaving the environment they are used to, despite its fragility.
Aware of this fact, the National Mutual Aid works to adapt its approach by offering alternative assistance, where blankets, clothes and food are distributed on the spot, in order to give them comfort and warmth.
In a statement to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP), the Regional Coordinator of the National Mutual Aid for the Fez-Meknes region, Hassan Othmani, confirmed that this campaign comes in implementation of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who attaches great importance to upholding the dignity of citizens, especially people in vulnerable situations and homeless, as well as elderly people who sleep on the street.
He explained that the regional coordination, in coordination with the local authorities, has organised similar campaigns aimed at providing integrated support to people in difficult situations, whether it concerns blankets and clothes or health care on the street.
He pointed out that people who wish to access specialised centres are fully taken care of, where they benefit from food, shelter, drink, clothing as well as health care.
The teams mobilised for this operation emphasised the extreme importance it has in the current winter season, noting that it constitutes real support for homeless people, preserves their dignity and gives them human warmth.
In addition to the distribution of basic aid, this humanitarian solidarity initiative is considered a message to this fragile population that it is not forgotten and still receives attention.
