This contingent of foreign students, particularly from African countries, reflects the openness of Moroccan universities, and in particular the University of Fez, to the cultures of these countries, according to speakers who spoke on Friday at the opening of the first edition of the "African Cultural Day" organised by the Higher School of Technology (EST).
In this regard, the Vice-President of the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University in charge of scientific research and cooperation, Mustafa Hadrami, stressed that the University of Fez encourages the organisation of this type of cultural event and initiatives open to African culture, recalling that foreign students are considered ambassadors of the Moroccan university once they have finished their studies in Morocco and returned to their countries of origin.
For his part, the Director of the EST, Mohamed Karim, explained that this event constitutes a milestone in the cultural and social life of the school, as it reflects the commitment to the values of openness, diversity, and sharing, indicating that it is also an opportunity to improve and strengthen the ties between students from Morocco and those from sub-Saharan African countries, through cultural exchanges.
The EST currently hosts 68 students from 14 brotherly African countries, which testifies to the attractiveness of this establishment and the depth of the relations between Morocco and its neighbours on the African continent, added the Director of the EST.
The programme of the "African Cultural Day" includes several artistic and musical components, intended in particular to showcase traditional Moroccan costumes and those of African countries.
