Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema has reached a stage of maturity (Mr. Taoufiq)

Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema has reached a stage of maturity (Mr. Taoufiq)

Mr. Taoufiq expressed his gratitude today, Wednesday, in Fez, during his opening speech at the sixth ordinary session of the Supreme Council of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema, to His Majesty the King, who decided to establish this foundation and defined its mission and objectives.

Mr. Taoufiq, who is also the delegate president of the foundation, highlighted that eight years after its creation, the foundation has reached a stage of maturity and is working to strengthen cooperation between Moroccan Oulema and their counterparts from African countries, adding that the foundation's network has expanded and now has branches in 48 countries across the continent.

He continued, during this opening session which was attended by the Wali of the Fez-Meknes region and Governor of the Fez prefecture, Said Zniber, that among the foundation's objectives is to coordinate the positions of Moroccan and African Oulema, particularly regarding the plan initiated by the Kingdom's scholars known as the 'Tasdid al-Tabligh' (rectification of communication), stressing that the role of the Oulema is to demonstrate good deeds and the teachings of a tolerant religion.

He pointed out that the guidance of the Oulema requires that their communication of religion to people should revolve around explaining the two conditions of a good life or "happiness", considering that the source of humanity's problems (wars and crimes) in the past, present, or future stems from human selfishness and a lack of spiritual purification.

He highlighted that if believers hold fast to religious constants and values, the rates of crime and threats facing the security of society and the state will decrease.

He affirmed that the Oulema must perform their role and return to their original mission of spreading the good word, helping believers distinguish between right and wrong, and ensuring the consolidation of the authentic concepts of religion.

Mr. Taoufiq called on the Oulema to take into account the specificities of their countries and cultures, and to respect the traditions of believers to ensure their mission is performed in the best possible way.

This session, which is being held with the permission of the Commander of the Faithful, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema, will see the General Secretariat of the Foundation present both the official report of the foundation's activities for the year 2023 and a summary of activities for the year 2024, in addition to presenting and discussing the projects and activities programmed for the year 2025.

In parallel with the proceedings of this session, a special ceremony will be organised to honour four figures from among the Oulema of Africa in recognition of their efforts in serving the Holy Quran, the noble Prophetic Hadith, the African Islamic manuscript heritage, and shared religious constants.

The Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Taoufiq, confirmed that the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema, which was established eight years ago by the Commander of the Faithful, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has reached a stage of maturity today.
