Fez: Consultative meeting in preparation for the 2nd National Conference on Advanced Regionalisation

Speaking on this occasion, the Wali of the Fez-Meknes region and Governor of the Fez prefecture, Mouaad Jamai, indicated that this meeting is an opportunity for the various regional actors and stakeholders to engage in a serious and responsible debate to objectively evaluate the results of the implementation of the advanced regionalisation project in the economic, social, cultural, and environmental fields.

In this regard, he recalled the objectives of advanced regionalisation, which aims to consolidate territorial governance, strengthen the policy of proximity with the citizen, and activate integrated and sustainable regional development.

In anticipation of the 2nd National Conference on Advanced Regionalisation, the Wali stressed the need to keep in mind the strategic dimension of the current development stakes and challenges by placing them in their regional, national, and international contexts.

Mr. Jamai indicated that this regional meeting is considered a platform for proposal and a participatory mechanism par excellence to identify the obstacles hindering the implementation of advanced regionalisation.

For his part, the President of the Fez-Meknes Regional Council, Abdelouahed El Ansari, affirmed that the upcoming National Conference is part of the context of the changes that the country is experiencing on the economic, social, and cultural levels, in accordance with the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, recalling that the advanced regionalisation project constitutes a fundamental pillar of the State's institutional edifice, a strategic choice, and a modern model in consolidating the development process in Morocco.

Mr. El Ansari added that these sessions will be a real opportunity for stakeholders to deepen reflection on the major issues related to the implementation of advanced regionalisation, in parallel with the challenges facing the country in a world in full mutation and transformation.

In this regard, he recalled the recommendations of the 1st National Conference held in December 2019 in Agadir, which constitute a roadmap for completing the edifice of advanced regionalisation, which the public authorities, led by the Ministry of the Interior, have worked to implement over the past five years.

This meeting took place in the presence of, among others, the governors of the provinces of the region, members of the Fez-Meknes Regional Council, elected officials, and members of professional chambers, as well as representatives of external and deconcentrated services.

Placed under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, the 2nd National Conference on Advanced Regionalisation aims to evaluate achievements and exchange best practices.
