The festival programme, organised by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication - Youth Department - and which will continue until Thursday, includes the main literary competition during which literary works qualified during regional youth festivals are presented and evaluated by a jury, chaired by the academic Amine Said, training workshops, seminars, and other parallel activities.
The festival will end with the awarding of three prizes to works that distinguish themselves by their creativity and quality.
The festival is aimed at young people aged 16 to 30, who participate with works covering various literary fields, including poetry, novels, short stories, and essays.
The opening of this literary event was marked by the presentation of artistic performances, which highlighted the creativity and artistic and literary skills of young people.
The Head of the Youth Programmes Division at the Ministry of Culture, Abdelmjid Sanah, stressed that the festival constitutes a distinguished event that concludes the national programme of youth festivals, which aims to achieve the social and economic integration of young people.
He added that the main objective of the National Festival for Young Writers is to highlight the creativity of young people and their talent.
For his part, the Regional Director of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication in Fes-Meknes, Ismail El Hamraoui, insisted on the importance of empowering and qualifying youth, as a fundamental pillar of human development, and supporting cultural and educational initiatives that give young people the opportunity to showcase their capabilities, perfect their talents, and contribute to the building of a modern Morocco, open to the world and turned towards the future.
He noted that the festival constitutes an additional milestone in the edifice of projects and festivals intended for young people, which aim to improve their skills in literary and cultural fields and enable them to express their ambitions.
The Vice-President of the Fes-Meknes region, Jaouad Gnaoui, affirmed, on this occasion, that the event constitutes an important step towards promoting a culture of reading among young people, as it contributes to highlighting the importance of the book as a means of learning and development.
He added that the Fes-Meknes region has committed to a set of projects aimed essentially at rehabilitating the cultural sector in the region through contract-programme projects between the State and the region, conventions with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication in order to create and equip cultural institutions and protect local heritage and culture, and by means of organising exhibitions and cultural events in the various prefectures and provinces of the region.
The 1st National Festival for Young Writers aims to support and strengthen the literary creativity of young people, promote national culture, and develop literary talents by offering an opportunity for young creators to present their works to a wide audience and create an environment conducive to creativity.
