Fes: The 12th Days of Cinematographic Communication celebrate Moroccan cinematographic creativity

This cinematic event, organised by the Association of Young Talents of Cinema and Theatre with the support of the Moroccan Cinematographic Centre, serves as an annual gathering to celebrate Moroccan cinematic creativity and offer young talents the opportunity to express themselves and flourish in the world of the 7th art.

The festival's opening ceremony, held from 19 to 21 December, was marked by a tribute to the Moroccan director Mohamed Charif Trebak in recognition of his contributions to the world of sound and image and for enriching the national cinematic scene.

The festival jury, chaired by Mr. Trebak, is composed of director and production manager Rachid Cheikh, actress and artist Sakina Fodaili, and researcher in the sociology of visual arts, Hassan Saber.

The ten films competing for the festival's three awards were also presented on this occasion: The Grand Prix of the festival, the Screenplay Award, and the Directing Award.

In addition to film screenings, the festival programme includes a workshop on film production, which aims to allow participants to gain practical experience in various fields of cinematic creativity, and a symposium on the theme "Moroccan film production between quantity and quality: challenges and future prospects", as well as the book signing for "Pioneer Filmmakers Among Us" by the writer Ahmed Sejilmassi.

The president of the Association of Young Talents of Cinema and Theatre, Abdellatif Zouhair, emphasised that the festival is part of the promotion of the cinematic and theatrical field in the spiritual capital, by providing support to young creators and offering them training that develops their skills.

He added that this year's edition constitutes an important step in strengthening youth cinema, particularly in the field of short films, noting that the participating films were selected based on criteria of sound, image, and message.

For his part, Mr. Trebak expressed his joy at the tribute paid to him in recognition of his experience and artistic career, adding that this tribute is a gesture that will encourage him to redouble his efforts.

The 12th Days of Cinematic Communication opened on Friday in Fes, under the theme "Let us communicate through cinema".
