The speakers, during a round table organised by the Initiatives for the Protection of Women's Rights Association, with the support of the African Women's Development Fund, under the theme "Framework Law No. 51.17 on the Education, Training and Scientific Research System and Gender Stereotypes", indicated that this law constitutes a valuable opportunity to restructure educational policies and drive societal transformation towards achieving gender equality.
They considered that the framework law also contributes, by focusing on the principles of inclusion and equity, to providing a suitable platform for combating stereotypes.
In a speech on the occasion, the President of the Regional Human Rights Commission for the Fez-Meknes region, Abdelrahman El Omrani, stressed that the meeting's topic is of interest to the National Human Rights Council, particularly the permanent committee responsible for evaluating and monitoring the effectiveness of human rights in public policies and the adequacy of legislation.
Mr. El Omrani pointed out that the main aspects of the topic concern, in particular, "Reception and Society", "Those Responsible for Educational Models in Textbooks", and "Stereotypes", emphasizing in this regard the importance of conducting field research.
For her part, the representative of the Initiatives for the Protection of Women's Rights Association, Hoda Youssoufi Filali, stated that the meeting is part of the project "Combating Gender-Based Stereotypes in and Through Education", funded by the African Women's Development Fund, an institution that works to support women's rights and empowerment throughout Africa.
She added that the project aims to confront gender stereotypes in the Moroccan education system and reshape gender relations to create an equitable and sustainable educational environment that enhances girls' opportunities to achieve their full potential.
For his part, the President of the Regional Centre for School and Vocational Guidance at the Regional Academy of Education and Training for the Fez-Meknes region, Ismail Rabii, emphasised the importance of strengthening initiatives aimed at consolidating the principle of equality between boys and girls.
In a related context, he highlighted the programmes and laws governing the educational system, particularly the National Charter for Education and Training and the Emergency Programme.
The higher education professor and expert in childhood and education issues, El Khammar El Alami, also stressed the need to put an end to stereotypes by training educational staff, adopting a conceptual approach, and promoting scientific research.
For her part, the clinical neuropsychology professor and neuropsychologist, Fatima Zahra Makhlawi, emphasised the great importance of combating all phenomena related to violence and working to educate the younger generation in values and ethics.
Mohamed Deich, the national coordinator of the Civil Coalition for the Mountains, for his part, insisted on "the need to work on reforming perceptions, raising awareness of the role of girls in social life and their fundamental right to education, and developing a safe school environment".
