Fez.. More than 1,700 foreign students are pursuing their studies at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University for the 2024-2025 academic year

Data presented today, Friday, during the opening of the first edition of the African Cultural Day, organised at the initiative of the Higher School of Technology in Fez, indicated that this fact reflects the openness of the Moroccan university in general, and the University of Fez in particular, to the cultures of these countries.

On this occasion, the Vice-President of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in charge of scientific research and cooperation, Mostapha El Hadrami, highlighted that the university encourages the organisation of cultural events and initiatives that open up to African culture, as foreign students are considered ambassadors of the Moroccan university after completing their academic path and returning to their home countries.

He added that the university is working to develop various activities that allow Moroccan students to open up to the cultures of African and foreign countries, noting that work is underway to create a special office for foreign students at the university to facilitate their integration and settlement easily and smoothly.

He pointed out that the first edition of the African Cultural Day is a golden opportunity for students to learn about the cultures and civilisations of African countries, exchange experiences, and promote the values and principles of dialogue, tolerance, coexistence, and respect for others.

For his part, the Director of the Higher School of Technology, Mohamed Karim, stated that this event is a special moment in the cultural and social life of the school, as it embodies the commitment to the values of openness, diversity, and sharing, in addition to being an opportunity to strengthen and consolidate the ties between Moroccan students and their counterparts from sub-Saharan African countries through cultural exchange.

Mr. Karim affirmed that this event is in line with the visionary outlook of His Majesty King Mohammed VI towards Africa, which is based on promoting South-South cooperation, mutual partnerships, and strengthening human and cultural ties between the countries of the continent.

He noted that the Higher School of Technology is hosting, for the current academic year, 68 outstanding students from 14 brotherly African countries, which reflects the attractiveness of the institution and the depth of the relations that bind Morocco to its neighbours on the African continent.

For his part, the founding president of the Higher School of Accounting and Finance, Abdelkrim Moussa, highlighted that this private institution has been receiving cohorts of African students since its creation in 2004 to pursue their higher studies in the financial and accounting field, with the school currently including a number of students from 15 African nationalities.

The African Cultural Day programme included various artistic and musical segments, focusing in particular on a fashion show of traditional Moroccan clothing and clothing from friendly African countries, which the students of the school and university creatively presented.

More than 1,700 students of different nationalities, especially Africans, are pursuing their studies at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez for the 2024-2025 academic year.
