The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will unveil, on July 2 in Casablanca, the brand new trophy for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled from July 5 to 26 in Morocco, a symbol of its commitment to promoting women's football on the continent.

"This launch is part of the vision of CAF President Patrice Motsepe, who wishes to develop and promote women's football on the continent," indicates the African football body in a statement published on its website.

CAF will present the trophy on its digital platforms on the afternoon of July 2, followed by an event with sponsor TotalEnergies that same evening, the same source specifies.
The Women's Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2024 will begin on July 5 at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, with the opening match pitting Morocco, the host country, against Zambia (21:00).

Morocco has been placed in Group A for this edition of the Women's AFCON, alongside Zambia, Senegal, and DR Congo. Group B includes Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana, while Group C is composed of South Africa, Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania.

It should be recalled that the women's national football team won against its Tanzanian counterpart with a score of 4 goals to 0, in a friendly match played Saturday evening at the Olympic Stadium.
