Rabat – The Casablanca-Anfa racecourse will host the 1st edition of the UAE Moroccan Festival on 26 April, which aims to mark a new step in the influence of horse racing in Morocco.
Organised by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Horse (SOREC), in partnership with the prestigious UAE President Cup (Gr3 PA), this event “illustrates the cultural and historical cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Morocco, two nations united by their common passion for the equestrian world”, indicates a press release from the organisers.
With an allocation of €250,000, the UAE President Cup becomes one of the best-endowed races in the Moroccan horse racing calendar, the same source notes.
In addition to this flagship event, the day will include a total of eight races featuring Arabian thoroughbreds and English thoroughbreds, attracting renowned professionals from all over the world.
“This festival symbolises a key step for our sector. We are working to position Morocco as an essential platform, not only in Africa but also in the Mediterranean basin. This partnership with the United Arab Emirates is a true recognition of our collective efforts”, explains Hicham Debbagh, Deputy General Manager of SOREC, quoted in the press release.
The integration of this event into the 32nd edition of the UAE President Cup reflects, according to the organisers, the growing momentum of the Moroccan horse racing sector.
