The 78th anniversary of the Casablanca events is an occasion to recall one of the epics inscribed by national history in its pages (Mr. El Ktiri)

The 78th anniversary of the Casablanca events is an occasion to recall one of the epics inscribed by national history in its pages (Mr. El Ktiri)

Mr. El Ktiri explained, in a speech during a rally organised to commemorate the events of April 7, 1947, that this anniversary also constitutes “a great legacy of struggle that culminated in victory after the bitter struggle waged by a proud throne and a loyal people with close cohesion and deep faith,” noting that it is “a legacy that inspires admiration and awe before the greatness and vigour of the national struggle, whose stages followed one another and whose forms multiplied in the face of the colonial tide.”

He added that “commemorating the bloody events experienced by the city of Casablanca on April 7, 1947, is a national and popular matter rooted in the history of the homeland, and an indelible mark on the conscience of all Moroccans, as it carries within it deep meanings and high values that reflect true patriotism in its highest and most noble manifestations.”

He continued, “This event embodies the victory of the will of the throne and the people and their close cohesion to end the colonial presence and lay the foundations for an independent and unified Morocco that looks forward to a rising future for its children; for peoples do not mature and their ambitions do not expand to build their present and future except through recalling their history, and approaching its immortal moments and epic struggles for survival and continuity, highlighting its distinctive existence among nations, and drawing lessons and morals from its heroic positions.”

In this context, he recalled some of the paths and milestones of struggle through which the sons of these mujahid regions and the sons of the one unified homeland from Tangier to Lagouira wrote the most wonderful images of resistance and struggle and the brightest beacons of glory and immortality.

Mr. El Ktiri added that “as we celebrate this glorious anniversary, we renew and confirm the continuous mobilisation and constant readiness of all segments and strata of society, the living forces, and the entire Moroccan people behind His Majesty King Mohammed VI to advocate for our first national cause, the cause of territorial integrity. We also highly value the successive diplomatic victories achieved by our country under the wise and insightful leadership of His Majesty to settle the file of the fabricated conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.”

During this meeting, which was attended, in particular, by the Governor of the Fida-Mers Sultan prefecture and a number of elected officials and representatives of external services, 8 former resistance fighters and members of the Liberation Army were honoured.

On this occasion, financial aid and social assistance were also allocated to a number of former resistance fighters and members of the Liberation Army and widows of the deceased among them, in recognition of the services they rendered in the service of the homeland, totalling 40 financial grants as social assistance.

The High Commissioner for Former Resistance Fighters and Members of the Liberation Army, Mr. Mustapha El Ktiri, considered on Monday in Casablanca that the 78th anniversary of the Casablanca events is a moment of reflection and contemplation, and an occasion to recall one of the epics inscribed by national history in its pages.
