Casablanca – Elements of the judicial police service in Casablanca managed, this Thursday, to arrest a French citizen of Algerian origin, 38 years old, who is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities, for the execution of a prison sentence after his conviction in a case related to serious assault and battery.
A security source explained that the suspect was arrested in Casablanca, where the process of checking him in the databases of the International Criminal Police Organization "Interpol" showed that he is the subject of a search based on a red notice, to execute a prison sentence after his conviction in mid-2024 by the French judiciary in a case related to assault using a bladed weapon on a group of people.
He added that the suspect was placed in police custody by order of the competent Public Prosecutor's Office, against the backdrop of the procedures required by the extradition protocol in accordance with national legislation and relevant international conventions.
According to the source, the arrest of this foreign citizen comes in the context of the General Directorate of National Security's effective and successful involvement in bilateral and multilateral cooperation relations in security fields, especially regarding tracking and pursuing persons wanted internationally in cases of cross-border crime.
