Présidence de la BAD : le Mauritanien Sidi Ould Tah succède à Akinwumi Adesina

The former Mauritanian Minister of Economy, Sidi Ould Tah, was elected on Thursday as President of the African Development Bank (AfDB). He will succeed the Nigerian Akinwumi Adesina at the head of this institution, which must face the financial disengagement of the United States.
It took only three rounds of voting for Sidi Ould Tah to win, with 76.18% of the votes, far ahead of his Zambian rival Samuel Munzele Maimbo, who received 20.26%.
The Senegalese Amadou Hott finished third with 3.55% of the votes. Founded in 1964, the AfDB, which has 81 member countries, including 54 African ones, is one of the major multilateral development banks. Its resources come notably from subscriptions by member countries, loans taken on international markets, as well as repayments and income from loans.
