the royal approach in favour of developing young people's skills materialised

The High Solicitude with which His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, never ceases to surround sport and youth was illustrated again through the inauguration by the Sovereign, in Oujda, of the "16 August" indoor multi-sports hall, the "Al Irfane" local socio-sports centre, and a rugby training field.

These projects, which required a budget of nearly 24 million dirhams, also reflect the constant desire of H.M. the King to give a strong impetus to the development process that the city of Oujda and its region are experiencing, as well as the enlightened vision of the Sovereign making sport a fundamental element for the development of the personal capacities and skills of young people. Realised within the framework of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) on an area of 3,600 m², the "16 August" indoor multi-sports hall notably includes a reception hall, a multidisciplinary playing area, an honorary stand, and bleachers with a capacity of 500 seats. The "Al Irfane" local socio-sports centre includes, for its part, four synthetic grass mini-football fields, a multi-sports field, and play areas. Located near the city's Rugby stadium, the Rugby training field (5,000 m²) is intended for the strengthening of the prefecture's sports infrastructure and the improvement of the conditions for practising this discipline. These new sports structures will also serve as a space for training and organising sports activities, capable of favouring the emergence of new talents among the young generations in the field of sport. They will also allow for the development of sports skills among children and young people, the fight against juvenile delinquency, and the socio-sports integration of the target populations through broad access to basic equipment and services. The city of Oujda is also experiencing the realisation, within the framework of a partnership between the INDH, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the urban commune of Oujda, of an indoor multi-sports hall in the "Ennajd" district, for a total cost of more than 13.5 million dirhams. This hall, which will be ready in August 2013, is built on a total area of 10,300 m² and notably includes a playing area, an honorary stand, bleachers for 400 spectators, and local fields. To these projects is added a programme for the realisation of 24 local fields in different districts of the city (Touffah, Hakkou, Sidi Maafa, Zrarqa, les Iris, Al Fath, Ibnou Rochd, Zouhour, Salam, Ghar El Baroud, Skiker, Sidi Yahya, Sidi Driss, Riad Isly). Nineteen of the 24 fields planned under this programme are completed. These various sports projects come to reinforce the Royal Initiative for the development of the Oriental region, which sets as its main objective the valorisation of the potential of young people to make them true actors of development.
