AmalJob: The Caravan stops in Oujda

The Amal Job employment caravan arrives at its 4th stop. Young job seekers in the Oriental region will have an appointment with AmalJob advisors on Thursday, April 18, in Oujda. This passage is inevitable given that unemployment in the region reaches a crucial level. The unemployment rate in the Oriental is estimated at 18.2% against 9.1% at the national level. This observation reflects the need to open up the region in order to promote investment and employment. However, resources remain poorly exploited so far, despite the geographical, economic, and human diversity of the region.

Regarding vocational training, 68 establishments are operational, including 52 branches in the private sector. The number of trainees exceeds, in this respect, 4,000 people in various specialties. Economically, the Oriental relies on the tertiary sector. Thus, three sectors are job-creating in the region. Trade and services come first. The industrial sector is concentrated in the Oujda-Anjad prefecture. Nearly 361 establishments are located there. However, smuggling and the informal sector weaken this sector and make the cost of production relatively high compared to other regions.

Furthermore, the profitability of the agricultural sector remains limited to modern irrigation perimeters where arboriculture and industrial crops thrive. Fishing activity, for its part, has certain shortcomings linked both to the specificities of the Mediterranean Sea and to the weakness of investments and the strong competition that the regional fishing sector is experiencing. On the other hand, tourism remains a niche to be developed. The region possesses significant varied and multiple tourist potentials. The Saïdia Station project crowns this asset, with the ambition of creating nearly 8,000 jobs.

The Oriental region is currently at the heart of national development projects. Multiple projects are underway. Let us cite in this sense the Oujda City-center, which reflects the desire to redevelop the urban segment of Oujda with the creation of a business centre as well as residential, hotel, and commercial poles. Similarly, the region saw the launch of construction work for Oujda Shore in 2011, an offshoring centre whose first phase requires an investment of 60 million dirhams, eventually allowing for the provision of nearly 2,000 direct jobs.

Note that for this 4th stop, the team of professionals from AmalJob.com will be accompanied by exhibitors of national and international renown. The Caravan will stop in Tangier on May 9, before arriving in Rabat on May 23.
