Three workshops for the benefit of young people

Three workshops for the benefit of young people

Like every year, since its first edition, the International Festival of Cinema and Common Memory has allowed the young people of Nador to benefit from training workshops dedicated to screenwriting, directing, and acting, which were, respectively, led by Mohamed Arious, Abdelouahed Mjahed, and Mohamed Choubi.

A very commendable initiative from which many young people have benefited to learn the first rules of the trade and broaden their knowledge in this field. Three workshops that made them happy and where one could feel the enthusiasm of these young people through the questions they asked their trainers and the dialogue they maintained to learn more. "It was friends of mine passionate about theatre who told me about these workshops, because they know that I love the world of cinema. What motivated me to come was to learn the techniques of directing. But, this remains a passion that I also pass on to children in my neighbourhood to make them love the seventh art," underlines M’hammed Gallout, a young student from the city of Nador who did not hesitate to take full advantage of these training sessions by spending another session with the actor Mohamed Choubi, who gave him the most useful advice for being in front of the camera.

For his part, the director Abdelouahed Mjahed thinks that even if most of these young people will not, in the future, make cinema their profession, they will at least have cinematic notions for themselves. "They might need these basics when making family photos and videos, at parties or wedding ceremonies or others. For others who want to do cinema, they will already have the basics and an initial introduction. But, here in this workshop, I noticed that more than 50% of the participants are thirsty for cinema and ask questions to learn more about this profession. Only, one must take into account the distance of this city from the centre where there are cinema and audiovisual institutes. They only lack the opportunity to do it," specifies A. Mjahed, adding that these workshops play a double role. For some festivals, they are bait to attract donors. For others, they are carried out to teach the young people of the region the first basics of cinema. Still, these training sessions manage to play their function in both cases.
